Pre-printed pads

If your prescription pad already has your name, degrees and clinic printed on it, RxKite should print only the prescription itself, in the blank space between the printed header and footer. This takes about five minutes, once.

You need: one sheet of your pad, a ruler with millimetres, and your printer.

#1. Choose "Pre-printed pad"

Go to Pad & printing, open your pad (or Add a pad layout), and under 1. What do you print on? choose Pre-printed pad. Then choose the paper size under 2. Paper size, or Custom with your pad's exact width and height.

Choosing a pre-printed pad automatically stops printing your name, clinic header and clinic footer, because your pad already shows them.

Tip: under Photo of your blank pad, upload a straight photo or scan of one blank sheet. It shows faintly behind the preview so you can see the print sitting on your real pad. It is never printed.

#2. Measure the header and footer

Put the ruler at the top edge of the paper and measure down to just below the last printed line of the header (often a coloured rule). Add 3–4 mm so the print never touches it. Enter this as Header height (top).

Do the same from the bottom edge up to just above the printed footer. Enter it as Footer height (bottom).

Example for a common A5 pad:

The Writing area line under the sliders shows the space that is left for the prescription.

#3. Hide what your pad already prints

Under 4. What to print, check:

• Name & Reg. No. under the signature: if your pad prints your name and registration number near the bottom, turn this off. RxKite then leaves just a clear space to sign.
• Prescription number, Verification QR code, Patient details: keep them on unless your pad has its own boxes for these.
• Complaints, history & examination: turn off if you only want the diagnosis and medicines on the patient's copy.

#4. Print a test page

Press Print a test page with these settings. Put one sheet of your pad in the printer and print it with:

• Scale: 100% or Actual size. Never Fit to page, which shrinks everything.
• Margins: None (or Default if None is not offered).
• Paper size: the same size you chose in RxKite. For A5 pads in an A4 printer, set the paper size to A5 and use the manual feed tray.

The test page shades the header zone and footer zone, draws millimetre rulers along every edge, and prints a sample block in the writing area.

Look at the printed sheet:

• The shaded zones cover your printed header and footer exactly? You are done.
• The shading overlaps the blank area, or your header peeks out below it? Change Header height or Footer height by the difference, and print the test again.
• Everything is shifted the same amount on every sheet (common with manual feed trays)? Read the shift off the rulers and use Printer nudge: Left ↔ right and Up ↕ down, in millimetres. Positive moves the print right or down.

Press Save. Every prescription printed with this pad now uses these settings.
