WhatsApp messages to patients

Send a signed prescription or a consultation link to the patient's WhatsApp from RxKite's own number, and how WhatsApp credits work.

4 minute read

RxKite can send two things to a patient on WhatsApp, from RxKite's own WhatsApp Business number: a signed prescription, as a PDF, and the link to a video call or live chat. Each message uses one WhatsApp credit. Nothing else is ever sent from the number.

Email stays free, and WhatsApp yourself on the call screen still opens WhatsApp on your own phone, at no cost.

Send a prescription

  1. Sign the prescription. A draft cannot be sent.
  2. On the signed prescription, press WhatsApp, next to Email. From the patient's page, use ⋯ → WhatsApp to patient beside the prescription.
  3. Check Patient's mobile. It is filled in from the patient's details; you can type another Indian mobile number.
  4. Leave Include my signature and stamp ticked. It is recommended, because a prescription sent on WhatsApp cannot be signed by hand.
  5. Press Send. A note confirms the number it went to and how many credits you have left.

The patient receives the signed PDF, named after its number, with a short message: who it is from, the visit date, and your clinic's phone (or email) for questions. Replies to RxKite's number are not read, and the message says so. The QR code on the PDF lets a pharmacist check it, as on an emailed one.

On the call screen, press Send to patient, choose WhatsApp, check the patient's mobile and press Send. The patient gets the link from RxKite's number, with your name and whether it is a video or a chat consultation. Video calls covers the other ways to send it.

WhatsApp credits

One credit sends one message. Plan & billing → WhatsApp messages shows how many you have, and the messages you have sent.

  • From your plan. Every plan, Free included, adds credits on the 1st of each month (India time), and saves up to five months' worth. Each month's credits last 12 months. The pricing page shows how many each plan adds. During the Pro trial you get the Free plan's credits.
  • Bought. Under Buy more, choose how many packs and pay. Bought credits never expire, and are used only after your plan's credits run out.
  • Not delivered, credit back. If WhatsApp refuses a message, or later reports that it was not delivered (for example, the number is not on WhatsApp), the credit comes back by itself.

The list under Buy more shows each message: Sent once WhatsApp has it, Delivered once it reaches the patient's phone, Read if the patient has read receipts on, and Not delivered · credit back if it did not arrive.

Good to know

  • Send only to patients who are happy to get it on WhatsApp. WhatsApp can pause RxKite's messages if patients block or report them.
  • Limits. Each account can send up to 300 prescriptions a day on WhatsApp, and the same prescription up to 5 times a day.
  • Privacy. The message is delivered by Meta, WhatsApp's owner. It carries the patient's name and mobile number, your name and clinic contact, and the prescription PDF or the link. Our privacy policy lists what Meta keeps.
