#Why I built it

I'm a general physician (MBBS) in Kolkata. The EMRs I looked at were expensive, and they did far more than I needed. My clinic already had its own website, so I built myself a small tool on it to book patients and write prescriptions.

Before long I was using it for every prescription, not only for patients who had booked online. Then a doctor friend asked how I was writing mine. So I took that tool and rebuilt it as a standalone app any doctor could use. That app is RxKite.

I built it myself, with the help of AI tools.

#What I wanted from it

• A dead simple, fast way to write a prescription. Find the patient, write the visit, print. Nothing to fill in that you don't need.
• Print it on the spot, or email it. Hand it over in the OPD, or send the signed PDF to the patient after an online consultation.
• A prescription I can prove is mine. Every prescription carries a QR code. Scanning it shows whether it is genuine and whether it was voided, so a forged or altered prescription, or a false claim, can be checked against the record. Pharmacists can scan it too.
• Never losing a record. Every prescription is filed under the patient, and everything is backed up every night to a separate location. You can export all of it whenever you want.

#What RxKite is, and isn't

RxKite is software for registered medical practitioners in India. It helps you write, print, email and keep prescriptions. It does not give medical advice: every clinical decision stays with the doctor. Patients never pay RxKite, and your patients stay yours.
