Getting started

From sign-up to your first printed prescription in about ten minutes.

This guide takes you from a new account to a printed prescription. You need your medical registration number, a computer or tablet with a printer, and one sheet of the paper you normally prescribe on.

1. Create your account

Open the sign-up page and fill in:

  • Your full name, as you want it printed.
  • Email and a password of at least 10 characters. A short phrase is easiest to remember.
  • Medical registration number and the council you are registered with. Both are printed on every prescription, as the NMC requires, so enter them exactly as they appear on your certificate.
  • Qualifications (for example MBBS, MD (Medicine)) and your clinic name. You can change these later.

If email is set up on the server you will get a 6-digit code to confirm your address. New accounts start with 14 days of Pro so you can try everything; nothing is charged and no card is needed.

2. The welcome steps

After sign-up the app asks four short questions. Each can be changed later.

  1. Your details: check how your name, qualifications, registration number and clinic will print.

  2. Your paper: choose what you print on.

    • Plain paper: RxKite prints the whole pad, header and footer included, in the colours you pick.
    • Pre-printed pad: your pad already has your name and clinic printed at the top and bottom. RxKite prints only in the blank space between. See Pre-printed pads.
    • Letterhead file: upload your letterhead as an image or PDF and RxKite prints it behind the prescription on plain paper.

    Then pick the paper size: A5 is the usual Indian prescription pad, A4 is ordinary printer paper.

  3. Your signature (optional): photograph your signature on white paper and upload it. It is used on prescriptions you email. When you print, you choose each time whether to include it or sign by hand.

  4. Ready: write your first prescription, or go to Pad & printing to fine-tune the layout.

3. Write your first prescription

Press New prescription (or Ctrl + N anywhere in the app).

  1. Type the patient's name, mobile number or patient ID. If they are new, choose Register a new patient. Only the name is required; age, sex, mobile and allergies take a few seconds more and are remembered for every future visit.
  2. Fill in what you need. Every section is optional: vitals, complaints and findings, diagnosis, tests, medicines, advice and follow-up. Empty sections are not printed.
  3. For each medicine type the name and strength, then dose, frequency (1-0-1), when to take it and for how long. Medicines you have prescribed before are suggested after two letters, with your usual dose filled in.
  4. Watch the preview on the right. It is the exact page that will print.

Everything is saved as you type. If the browser closes, the draft is waiting in Prescriptions → Drafts.

4. Sign and print

Press Sign & print (or Ctrl + P). You choose:

  • I will sign by hand: leaves a clear space above your name.
  • Print my signature and stamp: uses the images from Settings.

Signing files the prescription under your name, gives it a number such as RX-2026-00137, and locks it. A signed prescription cannot be edited; if it was wrong, open it and choose Void, give a reason, and write a new one.

In the browser's print window, set Scale: 100% / Actual size (not Fit to page) and Margins: None or Default. You only need to do this once per printer.
